Atopic Dermatitis Market Set for Strong Growth Through Biologics and Targeted Therapies
Atopic Dermatitis Market Set for Strong Growth Through Biologics and Targeted Therapies
Amlitelimab, being developed by Kymab and Sanofi, is a fully human monoclonal antibody targeting OX40 ligand. Unlike approaches that directly deplete T cells, the therapy is designed to modulate an important immune regulatory pathway. It is currently being evaluated in Phase III development and could become an important treatment option if successfully approved.
Other companies advancing innovative candidates include Nektar Therapeutics with Rezpegaldesleukin, Apogee Therapeutics with APG777, and Roche/Genentech with Afimkibart.
Recent Atopic Dermatitis Market Developments
The pipeline continues to generate important clinical developments. According to Aclaris Therapeutics’ 2026 corporate presentation, a two-arm, placebo-controlled Phase II study evaluating treatment in moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis remains ongoing, with topline results anticipated during the second half of 2026.
In January 2026, Aclaris Therapeutics announced the initiation of a placebo-controlled Phase Ib proof-of-concept trial evaluating ATI-052, an investigational bispecific antibody targeting both TSLP and IL-4Rα.
Connect Biopharma has also reported progress for Rademikibart. Based on clinical findings, the US FDA agreed that the therapy could advance into Phase III development for chronic treatment of atopic dermatitis.
In September 2025, Amgen and Kyowa Kirin reported preliminary topline results from the ASCEND study evaluating Rocatinlimab in adults and adolescents with moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis. During the same month, Sanofi announced that Amlitelimab achieved all primary and key secondary endpoints in the Phase III COAST-1 study.
Atopic Dermatitis Disease Overview
Atopic dermatitis, commonly referred to as eczema, is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder characterized by persistent itching, dryness, redness, and recurring inflammatory lesions. Its development involves skin-barrier impairment, immune-system dysregulation, genetic factors, and environmental influences.
Although the disease frequently begins during childhood, it can continue into adulthood or develop later in life. Persistent symptoms can negatively affect quality of life, sleep, daily activities, and overall well-being. Increased susceptibility to skin infections can further complicate disease management.
Atopic Dermatitis Epidemiology Insights
DelveInsight’s epidemiological analysis evaluates historical and projected patient trends across the seven major markets. In 2024, the 7MM had approximately 25 million atopic dermatitis cases among individuals younger than 18 years and around 48 million cases among adults aged 18 years and older.
