Does Intent Data Improve Architect Prospecting Timing? New Research | InfoGlobalData

Can Intent Signals Identify Architect Firms at the Right Moment?

There is no public benchmark showing that a particular intent signal produces a specific response-rate increase among architects. However, current architecture-market data provides several useful indicators that can be combined into an intent framework.

Project inquiries are a meaningful market signal

AIA's August 2026 ABI showed that inquiries into new projects were growing modestly even while billings remained below the stability threshold.

Earlier in 2026, the picture was also changing. In March, the ABI reached 49.8, while inquiries increased and average firm backlogs rose to 6.6 months, the highest level since December 2023.

For a vendor selling products or services that become more relevant when firms have expanding project pipelines, these signals can help identify accounts worth monitoring.

They are not individual-level buying intent. Instead, they are market and account-level context.

AI adoption is another emerging signal

AIA's August 2026 research found that 48% of responding architecture-firm leaders were actively engaging with AI: 18% described AI as a strategic priority and 30% said their firms were actively using AI and modeling the behavior. Another 34% described their approach as interested but reactive.

Among firms already using AI, 22% said it had substantially increased productivity, while 76% said productivity remained about the same. Two-thirds of firms also expected to increase AI investment in 2027.

This creates a potential segmentation signal for vendors selling AI, workflow, design, visualization, data, or automation solutions.

The important point is that AI adoption itself is not proof of purchase intent. It becomes more useful when combined with other signals.

Why Multiple Intent Signals Are More Useful Than One

Gartner's April 2025 research specifically recommends combining multiple intent signals to identify genuine technology-buying activity more precisely. Its guidance is based on the observation that third-party intent data becomes more useful when demand-generation teams triangulate signals rather than relying on one behavioral indicator.

For architect prospecting, a stronger account-level signal might look like this:

Architecture firm + recent project inquiry + relevant website engagement + technology research + appropriate decision-maker = higher-priority account

That is materially different from:

Architecture firm = send email

The first approach creates a reason to prioritize. The second simply creates a list.

6sense's research reinforces this stage-based approach. Its analysis of 594 B2B companies found that roughly 40% of accounts were showing meaningful signs of buying activity at a given time, substantially above the widely cited 5% "in-market" heuristic. However, many of those accounts did not progress to later buying stages.

The lesson is that intent identifies activity, not guaranteed revenue.

How Should an Architect Email List Be Combined With Intent Data?

An Architect Email Database provides the identity layer. Intent data provides the behavioral layer.

Combining the two allows a sales team to move from:
