Why Are Players Choosing French Roulette at Online Casinos?

La Partage generally applies to even-money bets, including:

• Red or black
• Odd or even
• 1–18 or 19–36

When the ball lands on zero, La Partage can return half of the wager to the player instead of resulting in a complete loss.

This rule can reduce the effective house edge on qualifying bets to around 1.35%, making these particular bets especially interesting from a mathematical perspective.

However, players should always check the rules of the individual online table. Not every game necessarily offers the same rules, and the terms can vary between platforms.

En Prison Can Change How Zero Is Handled

Another rule players may encounter is En Prison.

Like La Partage, En Prison generally applies to even-money bets. When the ball lands on zero, instead of immediately losing the wager, the bet may be placed “in prison” for the next spin.

The outcome of the following spin determines what happens to that wager under the specific table rules.

This gives players another distinctive feature that separates French Roulette from many other roulette variants.

Because rules can differ between games, beginners should read the information provided by the casino before placing a wager.
