Artwork Support

If you are unsure whether your artwork meets printing requirements, supplier support can be valuable.

Order Updates

Regular updates can help you plan inventory and avoid unexpected delays.

Ask About Quality Control

Quality should remain consistent across production runs.

Ask whether the supplier checks:

• Box dimensions
• Printing
• Structural strength
• Window placement
• Finishing
• Quantity

Consistent quality is particularly important for established brands that use packaging regularly.

Consider Sustainability

If sustainability is part of your brand strategy, discuss material options with the supplier.

Potential considerations include:

• Recyclable paperboard
• Recycled-content materials
• Kraft paperboard
• Right-sized packaging
• Paper-based inserts

However, the environmental impact of packaging depends on the complete material system, manufacturing process, coatings, adhesives, and local recycling infrastructure.

Avoid making environmental claims unless they can be supported.

Check Food Packaging Requirements

Cake packaging is directly associated with food, so material suitability matters.

Ask the supplier about materials and components appropriate for the intended application.

You should also consider:

• Moisture
• Grease
• Food-contact surfaces
• Product temperature
• Storage conditions

Requirements can vary depending on the type of cake and market in which the product is sold.

Look at Previous Work

Ask the supplier to show examples of previous custom cake boxes.
