What Happens When a Vehicle Fails a Mobile RWC Inspection

Conclusion

The 14-day re-inspection window after a failed inspection is fixed, but how quickly an owner acts on the rejection report is what actually decides whether a second full inspection is needed. Addressing every listed item, not just the obvious one, is the single biggest factor in avoiding a repeat failure.

The legal standard behind a mobile roadworthy certificate is fixed, but the experience of getting one in Brisbane varies more than most vehicle owners expect. Checking accreditation, coverage, turnaround, and re-inspection policy before you book puts you in a much stronger position. Totally Mobile Roadworthy covers the full Brisbane region with clear communication and fast turnaround on every booking. FAQs

How long do owners have to fix issues after a failed inspection?

A re-inspection can be carried out within 14 days of the initial assessment. After that window, the original inspection becomes void and a completely new inspection is required.

Does a failed inspection cancel registration or affect insurance?

No. A failed inspection on its own does not cancel existing registration or affect an active insurance policy. It simply means the vehicle can't be transferred or re-registered until it passes.

Does the same mechanic have to complete the repairs?

No. Any qualified repairer can complete the work listed on the rejection report, as long as it's finished and ready to check before the 14-day window closes.

Can the re-inspection happen at the same location as the first visit?

Yes. For a mobile service, a re-inspection can usually be arranged at the same location as the original appointment, whether that's home, a workplace, or another convenient spot.
