Soft Tissue Sarcoma Market

Soft Tissue Sarcoma Market

Soft Tissue Sarcoma Market Set for Significant Growth at a CAGR of 7.9% During the Forecast Period (2026–2036)

Small-molecule therapies remain an important component of STS management because they can interfere with tumor proliferation, oncogenic signaling, and angiogenesis. Existing therapies such as Crizotinib (XALKORI) and Trabectedin (YONDELIS) continue to have relevance in selected patient populations. At the same time, investigational approaches such as INT230-6 and lurbinectedin are being evaluated to improve disease control and expand options for advanced STS.

Gene and cell therapies represent another important area of innovation. TBI-1301 is an investigational TCR-engineered T-cell therapy targeting NY-ESO-1-positive malignancies, particularly synovial sarcoma. The progress of approved cell therapies such as TECELRA (afamitresgene autoleucel) further demonstrates the growing role of personalized cellular approaches in sarcoma treatment.

Intratumoral therapies and immune-based combinations are also gaining momentum. These strategies seek to directly destroy tumor cells while stimulating broader systemic immune responses. Biomarker-guided patient selection could further improve treatment precision and potentially increase the clinical value of emerging therapies.

Promising Emerging Therapies and Competitive Landscape

The competitive landscape includes Takara Bio, Intensity Therapeutics, PharmaMar, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Polaris, Advenchen Laboratories, Philogen, Sun Pharma, Eli Lilly, Replimune, Immutep, US WorldMeds, GSK, QBiotics Group, and other companies pursuing innovative STS therapies.

Takara Bio’s TBI-1301 is being investigated in a Phase III confirmatory study for patients with unresectable, advanced, or recurrent NY-ESO-1-positive synovial sarcoma. The program received Rare Disease and Sakigake designations from Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in May 2025, supporting an expedited regulatory pathway.

INT230-6 from Intensity Therapeutics is an investigational intratumoral treatment combining cisplatin and vinblastine with the company’s DfuseRx platform. The approach is intended to improve drug distribution within tumors while promoting tumor cell destruction and potentially stimulating systemic antitumor immunity.

Meanwhile, ZEPZELCA (lurbinectedin), developed by PharmaMar and commercialized in collaboration with Jazz Pharmaceuticals, is being studied in advanced solid tumors including leiomyosarcoma. By interfering with oncogenic transcription, the therapy is designed to suppress tumor growth and promote cancer cell death.

According to Ramandeep Singh, senior consultant of forecasting at DelveInsight, the future STS landscape remains promising, with innovative therapies such as lurbinectedin expected to contribute significantly to market expansion. ZEPZELCA is anticipated to enter the US market for the relevant STS setting in 2028, with revenue expected to increase as adoption expands among eligible patients.

Recent Developments in the Soft Tissue Sarcoma Market

The STS pipeline has experienced several important developments. In May 2026, Philogen scheduled parallel scientific advice with the EMA and FDA concerning a new Phase III study of Fibromun in first-line STS, with the study expected to begin in 2026. During the same month, PharmaMar announced completion of enrollment in the global Phase III SaLuDo trial evaluating ZEPZELCA with doxorubicin as first-line treatment for metastatic leiomyosarcoma.
