Seasonal Garden Cleaning: What Your Outdoor Space Needs

Garden cleaning may include removing leaves, weeds, branches and other debris, clearing garden beds, sweeping paths, trimming suitable vegetation and collecting green waste. The specific tasks depend on the requirements of the outdoor space.

Is garden cleaning necessary during winter?

Yes. Winter maintenance can help keep drainage areas clear, remove storm debris and prevent organic material from accumulating. Maintaining the garden during cooler weather can also prepare the space for increased plant growth during spring.

Can garden waste be used for composting?

Some garden waste can be composted, including suitable leaves and small plant clippings. However, diseased plants, invasive weeds and contaminated materials may not be appropriate for composting and should be managed using suitable disposal methods.
