Middle East & Africa Tire Industry: Freight Expansion, Radial Adoption, and Regional Mobility
The Middle East and Africa are experiencing changes in vehicle use, freight movement, road connectivity, and industrial activity that are influencing tire demand across passenger, commercial, off-the-road, and two-wheeler applications. Expanding transportation networks and economic diversification are increasing vehicle utilization, while demanding climatic and road conditions are contributing to recurring replacement requirements across several countries.
According to the Middle East & Africa tire industry study by Markntel Advisor, the regional industry was valued at USD 10.11 billion in 2025 and is projected to rise from USD 10.98 billion in 2026 to USD 18.89 billion by 2032, reflecting a CAGR of 9.46% during 2026–2032. Passenger cars represented the leading vehicle category in 2026, while radial tires accounted for about 82% of demand.
Freight Activity Is Increasing Tire Utilization
Road transportation remains central to commercial activity across many Middle Eastern and African economies. Trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles, and other fleet vehicles operate across long distances and under varying climatic conditions, creating recurring requirements for durable tires. Expansion of logistics corridors and industrial zones is therefore closely connected with tire consumption, particularly in the replacement segment.
The relationship between trade and road transport is especially relevant in Africa. The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa has projected that implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area could increase intra-African freight demand by around 28% by 2030. The UNECA assessment of AfCFTA transport demand also identifies additional requirements for trucks and other transport infrastructure, indicating how stronger regional trade can translate into greater vehicle utilization.
Replacement Demand Reflects Harsh Operating Conditions
Replacement demand is influenced by the age of vehicle fleets, annual mileage, road conditions, and environmental exposure. In the Middle East, high temperatures and long-distance driving can place additional stress on tire compounds and tread structures. In parts of Africa, commercial vehicles may operate across a mixture of paved highways, secondary roads, and demanding rural routes.
These conditions make tire durability an important consideration for fleet operators. Longer service life can reduce the frequency of replacements and help limit vehicle downtime. For passenger vehicle owners, factors such as safety, ride comfort, fuel efficiency, and price also influence replacement decisions. The combination of these requirements creates demand for tires with different performance characteristics across the region.
Radial Tires Continue to Gain Ground
Radial construction has become a major part of tire demand because of its combination of durability, heat dissipation, fuel efficiency, and lower rolling resistance. These characteristics are particularly relevant to long-distance passenger and commercial transportation, where fuel consumption and tire service life can significantly affect operating costs.
The increasing focus on vehicle efficiency is also supporting the transition from conventional bias tires toward radial products. Regulatory initiatives in GCC countries are encouraging attention to tire performance and energy efficiency, while fleet operators are increasingly evaluating tire selection as part of broader cost-management strategies. As transportation activity expands, these considerations are likely to keep radial products central to tire demand.
