Ask whether students actually learn budgeting, vendor management, client handling and event-day coordination.

Those are the things you'll eventually use.

What About Internships?

This part deserves attention.

An internship isn't just something to add to your CV.

If it's a useful internship, you get to see how an event company actually works.

IIEM's PGDEM page, for example, describes a structure of two semesters with industry exposure, including a three-month paid internship.

NIEM also promotes firsthand experience working on events as part of its current admissions offering.

But here's a small warning.

Don't assume “internship included” automatically means you'll be doing meaningful work.

Ask what students actually do.

Are you coordinating? Observing? Helping production? Working with clients? Or just sitting around waiting for instructions?

There is a big difference.

Career Options After the Course

A management pg diploma doesn't lock you into one job title.

That's actually one of the useful things about event management.

You could explore event coordination, production, corporate events, wedding planning, exhibitions, client servicing, hospitality or experiential marketing.

Current event-management programs list roles such as event manager, production manager, wedding planner, client service manager and corporate-event positions among potential career paths.

Your first job probably won't be glamorous.

You may spend a lot of time checking vendor lists, calling suppliers, preparing schedules and running around at venues.

That's normal.

The people who eventually handle bigger events usually understand the small operational details first.
