ISOFertility – Expert IVF & Fertility Treatment in Meerut by Dr. Shikha Jain
Step 5: Embryo Development
Fertilized eggs are monitored as they develop into embryos. Laboratory specialists assess embryo development before selecting an appropriate embryo for transfer or freezing.
Step 6: Embryo Transfer
A selected embryo is placed into the uterus using a thin catheter. The procedure is generally straightforward and does not usually require surgery.
Step 7: Pregnancy Testing
A blood pregnancy test is typically performed around 9–14 days after embryo transfer, depending on the treatment protocol.
IVF success rates vary based on age, embryo quality, reproductive health, and other medical factors. No fertility treatment can guarantee pregnancy.
IUI Treatment – A Less Invasive Fertility Option
Intrauterine Insemination, commonly called IUI, is another fertility treatment that may be recommended for selected patients.
During IUI, specially prepared sperm is placed directly into the uterus around the time of ovulation. This procedure aims to increase the chances of sperm reaching the egg.
IUI may be considered for certain cases of unexplained infertility, mild male infertility, or ovulation-related difficulties.
Compared with IVF, IUI is generally less invasive and involves fewer medical procedures. However, it is not suitable for every fertility condition.
The choice between IUI and IVF depends on several factors, including age, medical history, fallopian tube health, sperm quality, and previous treatment outcomes.
Importance of Fertility Testing Before Treatment
Fertility testing is an essential part of understanding why pregnancy may not be occurring naturally.
Before recommending treatment, a fertility specialist may suggest investigations for both partners.
Fertility Tests for Women
Common investigations include:
- Hormonal Blood Tests: Used to evaluate certain hormones involved in reproductive function.
- Pelvic Ultrasound: Helps assess the uterus, ovaries, and reproductive structures.
- AMH Testing: Provides information about ovarian reserve, although it cannot independently predict natural fertility.
- Ovulation Assessment: Helps determine whether ovulation is occurring regularly.
- Tubal Patency Testing: Evaluates whether the fallopian tubes are open.
Fertility Tests for Men
A semen analysis is one of the most common initial investigations for male fertility.
It evaluates factors such as sperm concentration, movement, and shape.
Depending on the results, additional hormonal or medical investigations may be recommended.
Identifying possible fertility problems early can help avoid unnecessary delays and support more appropriate treatment decisions.
