Recommended investigations may include hormone testing, ultrasound examinations, semen analysis, and other tests based on individual circumstances.

Step 2: Ovarian Stimulation

During ovarian stimulation, prescribed fertility medications encourage the development of multiple ovarian follicles.

The response is monitored through ultrasound examinations and, when needed, blood tests.

Medication doses and treatment duration are adjusted according to the patient's response and medical requirements.

Step 3: Egg Retrieval

Once the follicles reach an appropriate stage of development, eggs are collected through a medical procedure called oocyte retrieval.

Egg retrieval is usually performed using ultrasound guidance and appropriate pain management or sedation.

The collected eggs are then examined in an embryology laboratory.

Step 4: Fertilization

The retrieved eggs are combined with sperm using conventional IVF or another suitable laboratory technique.

In some cases, Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) may be recommended.

ICSI involves injecting a single sperm directly into a mature egg to assist fertilization.

Step 5: Embryo Development

Fertilized eggs are cultured in controlled laboratory conditions.

Embryologists monitor embryo development and assess characteristics that may help guide embryo selection.

Not every retrieved egg fertilizes successfully, and not every fertilized egg develops into an embryo suitable for transfer or freezing.

Step 6: Embryo Transfer

During embryo transfer, a selected embryo is placed into the uterus using a thin catheter.

The procedure is generally brief and usually does not require anesthesia.

The number of embryos transferred depends on medical guidance, patient circumstances, and applicable clinical regulations.

Step 7: Pregnancy Testing

A blood pregnancy test is generally performed approximately 9–14 days after embryo transfer, depending on the treatment protocol.

A positive result indicates that pregnancy hormone has been detected, but follow-up testing and ultrasound examination are needed to assess pregnancy progression.
