Breathing difficulties, noisy breathing, persistent hoarseness, or trouble swallowing deserve prompt medical attention. In some cases, inflammation can affect cartilage supporting the airways and potentially interfere with breathing.
Seeking medical evaluation does not necessarily mean that a person has relapsing polychondritis. Many other conditions can produce similar symptoms. A healthcare professional can determine what testing or specialist evaluation may be appropriate.
Why Understanding Risk Factors Matters
Learning about possible risk factors can help people become more aware of unusual or recurring symptoms. However, risk factors should not be viewed as predictions or causes in every individual.
