How to Prepare a School for a Painting Project

Select Paints Suitable for Schools

Schools need paint products that can cope with frequent cleaning, regular contact and heavy daily use. Colour choices should also consider the purpose and atmosphere of each area.

Consider Durability

Washable and durable coatings can be useful in classrooms, corridors and other busy spaces where walls may need regular cleaning. Exterior products should be selected according to local weather exposure and the type of surface being painted.

Use Appropriate Colours

Colour can influence how a space feels and functions. Softer tones may suit classrooms and study areas, while brighter colours can be useful for activity spaces and selected feature walls. School management can consider existing branding, room purpose and the overall appearance of the campus when selecting colours.

Establish Safety Measures

Safety must remain a priority throughout the project. Painting work should be managed in a way that protects students, teachers, visitors and workers from unnecessary risks.

Restrict Access

Areas being painted should be clearly separated from occupied spaces. Temporary barriers and appropriate warning signs can help prevent people from entering active work zones. Wet surfaces and equipment should never be left where students may accidentally come into contact with them.

Manage Equipment and Materials

Paint tins, ladders, tools and other equipment should be stored securely when not in use. Ventilation should also be considered, particularly in enclosed rooms. A professional painting team can establish practical procedures for managing materials while keeping the school environment organised.
