How to Choose Lab Grown Diamond Jewellery for Every Occasion
Lab-grown diamonds give jewellery shoppers another way to approach that question, particularly for those who want the characteristics of a diamond while considering an alternative to mined stones. From there, the decision becomes much more personal: choosing the shape, setting, metal and design that fit the wearer.
Certification can provide independent information about a diamond's characteristics and grading. Blu Diamonds states that its lab-grown jewellery includes IGI or SGL certification, depending on the piece.
For a buyer, this is useful because the purchase becomes more than a visual decision. Instead of judging a diamond solely by photographs or showroom lighting, shoppers can review the available grading information and understand more about the stone they are considering.
This matters particularly when buying online. Product photographs can show the design, but certification and product specifications provide additional information for comparing individual pieces.
Compare the Full Piece, Not Just the Carat Size
A larger diamond is not automatically the right choice.
The finished appearance depends on several factors, including the diamond's cut, shape, setting and the proportions of the jewellery itself. A well-balanced smaller stone can sometimes look more refined than a larger stone placed in a setting that does not suit it.
Budget should also be considered as a complete jewellery budget rather than a diamond-only budget. The final price reflects the stone, metal, craftsmanship and design.
Lab-grown diamonds can give shoppers more flexibility in how they allocate that budget, but that does not mean size should become the only priority. If the piece is intended to be worn for years, comfort and design can be just as relevant as carat weight.
Consider the Collection as a Whole
If the purchase is a gift, take a quick look at the recipient's existing jewellery before making a decision.
Do they usually wear rings or earrings? Do they prefer delicate designs or statement pieces? Is their jewellery mostly yellow gold, white gold or rose gold? Are their existing pieces simple enough for a new item to sit alongside them?
These small observations can be more useful than guessing what someone might like based on a general jewellery trend.
