Essential Oil Manufacturing Process

A professional Essential Oil Manufacturer and Supplier in India must select an extraction technique that suits the botanical raw material and desired finished product.

1. Selection of Raw Materials

The process begins with selecting suitable botanical materials. Depending on the essential oil, these may include flowers, leaves, herbs, roots, peels, woods, or other aromatic plant parts.

2. Extraction

Steam distillation is one of the commonly used methods for extracting essential oils from aromatic plants. Cold pressing is another method, particularly associated with oils derived from certain plant materials.

Government-supported FFDC facilities in Kannauj also work with processes such as distillation, extraction, rectification and fractionation for aroma and essential oils.

3. Separation and Processing

After extraction, the aromatic oil is separated from the other components produced during the process. Additional processing may be performed depending on the required specifications and intended application.

4. Quality Evaluation

Quality evaluation is important for checking characteristics such as aroma, appearance, consistency, and suitability for the intended application.
