Carson Zan Hughes on Creating Nyla, Yevian, and Dice’s Dangerous World

Dice brings experience to the story. He leads a monster-hunting guild that includes Cloak, Frost, and Clip. The guild takes bounties, travels to towns, and faces creatures that ordinary guards cannot handle alone.

Dice trains the team, prepares for missions, and tries to keep the hunters alive. He also understands that the dangers of the Realm of Ruin are not always simple. Some creatures are physical monsters. Others are controlled by specters. Some threats require potions, fire, planning, and an Astral Blade.

During the attack on Liemstall, Dice leads the defense against the rope monster and the specter controlling it. Frost prepares the flammable mixture. Nyla uses fire with her bow. Once the monster’s body is destroyed, Dice uses an Astral Blade against the specter.

This shows the kind of dangerous world Carson Zan Hughes creates. No one person can face every threat alone. The hunters need different skills, trust, and the willingness to stand together.

A Dangerous World With New Beginnings

The Realm of Ruin contains monsters, Dreamgates, enchanted masks, towns, and hidden places such as El Dorado. It is a world where people can lose everything, but also find a new purpose.

Nyla becomes Arrow. Yevian becomes Jester. Dice continues to lead his guild through a realm that never becomes easy or safe.

Carson Zan Hughes creates a world where danger is always close, but courage is, too. The characters do not forget what they have lost. Instead, they carry their past with them as they face the unknown.

Through Nyla, Yevian, Dice, and the monster-hunting guild, Carson Zan Hughes shows that even in the Realm of Ruin, people can find others to stand beside and a reason to keep moving forward.
