B.A. Journalism & Mass Communication Course: Eligibility, Admission, Fees, Syllabus, Careers, Salary & Scope

The BAJMC course details spread across six semesters, moving from foundational theory to hands-on production work.

1. • Semester 1–2: Fundamentals of Communication, Introduction to Media, Reporting Basics, English Language Skills
2. • Semester 3–4: News Writing and Editing, Media Laws and Ethics, Advertising, Photography, Radio Production
3. • Semester 5–6: Television Production, Digital and New Media, Public Relations, Research Project, Internship

Practical components — reporting assignments, studio recording, and a mandatory internship — carry real weight in the final grade at most universities. This hands-on structure is what separates BAJMC from a purely theoretical BA English or BA History degree.

BA Journalism Career Options: What The Degree Actually Leads To

This is the section most college brochures underplay. A BAJMC graduate doesn't only become a TV reporter — the degree opens at least six distinct career lanes.

Traditional Media Roles

Reporters, sub-editors, and news anchors still form the backbone of BA Journalism career outcomes, particularly in regional-language media, which remains strong in Bihar and eastern India. Entry-level pay in this lane starts modest but grows fast with byline visibility.

Digital-First Roles

Content writing, SEO editorial work, and social media management now absorb a large share of BAJMC graduates, because every brand needs a content engine. Roles here often pay comparably to traditional reporting within the first two years.

Corporate And PR Roles

Public relations executives, corporate communication associates, and brand strategists are hired directly from BAJMC programs by agencies and corporates. These roles tend to offer more structured salary growth than freelance media work.
