Thick Skin and Rhinoplasty: Why It Changes the Technique and the Recovery
Thick nasal skin has a denser soft-tissue layer, more fibrous tissue, and more oil-producing sebaceous glands, especially around the tip. It tends to feel firmer to the touch and often looks smoother or shinier. Thin skin works like a fitted sheet, showing every contour of the cartilage and bone beneath it. Thick skin works more like a heavy blanket: it softens and hides fine detail. This hides small irregularities, but it also blurs refinement.
