QuickBooks unable to locate PDF file issue usually occur due to outdated windows print component or if you encounter issues while configuring QuickBooks desktop application. There are some other possible reasons which are below-

  • QuickBooks unable to locate PDF file if adobe reader in your system is not set up as the default pdf viewer in quick book desktop.
  • If your adobe reader is outdated or corrupted installed in windows.
  • If your PDF converter shows you offline then this error may be appear and QuickBooks is not responding.
  • If your PDF reader is out of date and it needs an update.
  • If you are giving inappropriate print component then quick book is unable to complete business tasks and fails to locate PDF file.

Methods of fixing QuickBooks Unable to Locate the PDF File Issue

Method 1- Repair, update and reinstall Adobe Reader

  • First go to the Adobe Acrobat Reader to download Adobe reader in your system.
  • Look at the latest version of application and download it.
  • After installing application in your computer go to the help tab and click on About Adobe Reader.
  • Now check the Adobe version on your computer must be the same as that shown on Adobe website.
  • If the version are not same then go to the Help icon and click on checking for updates.
  • Follow the instruction which show you on screen for update the PDF viewer.
  • Now Repair the damaged Adobe PDF reader.
  • For this shut down the all tabs which are run on your system and go to the start menu of your system.
  • Now search for control panel.
  • Open control panel and look program and features.
  • Click on the Adobe reader option and click to uninstall button.
  • A setup dialog box is open you have to choose next option.
  • Select repair and again click on next.
  • Click on the install button.
  • If the process completed click on finish.
  • After finishing the process restart your computer and log in to the QuickBooks Online account.
  • Now we need to reinstall the Adobe reader
  • For this open the run command by clicking on window with R button.
  • In run search for type appwiz.cpl and click to open it.
  • Choose the view installed updates option available on the program and features window.
  • Look for the Adobe application and right click on it.
  • Now choose uninstall option.
  • Browse the Adobe Acrobat Reader download page.
  • Click on install button by choosing your window version.
  • After downloading click on run then on finish button after installation process is complete.   

Method 2- Set Adobe Reader as a Default PDF viewer

  • For set Adobe reader as a default PDF viewer go to the start menu and click on control panel.
  • Now select program and click on default program.
  • Now search Adobe reader.
  • Click on the application and choose set as a default program.
  • Click on ok button to proceed it.
  • Now scroll down the page and click on default apps.
  • Select the current default app for the .pdf file format.
  • Select Adobe Acrobat reader in the program list and click on switch option.
